1. Information We Collect

Information You Provide

When you use Proof, you may provide the following information:

• Receipt images - Photos of receipts you capture or import
• Receipt details - Merchant names, amounts, dates, item descriptions, and notes you add
• Deadline information - Return windows and warranty periods you set

All of this data is stored locally on your device and synced to your private iCloud account. We never have access to it.

Information We Do NOT Collect

• Personal identification information
• Location data
• Contacts or address book
• Browsing history
• Device identifiers for tracking
• Usage analytics or telemetry
• Any third-party analytics data

2. How Your Data Is Stored

Local Storage

Your receipt data is stored locally on your device using Apple's secure SwiftData framework. This data remains on your device and is protected by your device's security features, including Face ID, Touch ID, or passcode.

iCloud Sync

If you have iCloud enabled, your data syncs across your devices using Apple's CloudKit service. This data is:

• Stored in your private iCloud container - only you can access it
• Encrypted in transit and at rest by Apple
• Not accessible by Proof or any third party
• Subject to Apple's privacy policy and security measures

You can disable iCloud sync at any time in your device settings. Your data will remain on your local device.

3. OCR Processing

Proof uses optical character recognition (OCR) to extract text from your receipt images. This processing happens:

• On-device using Apple's Vision framework - no data leaves your device
• Optionally via AI enhancement - if you enable enhanced OCR, receipt images may be processed through a secure API to improve extraction accuracy. This processing is:
  • Only performed when you explicitly capture a receipt
  • Not stored on any external servers after processing
  • Not used for training AI models
  • Transmitted securely over encrypted connections

You can use Proof entirely with on-device processing if you prefer not to use the enhanced OCR feature.

4. Third-Party Services

Proof minimizes third-party dependencies. The only external services we use are:

• Apple iCloud (CloudKit) - For optional data sync across your devices
• Apple Push Notifications - For deadline reminders (no personal data is transmitted)
• App Store - For app distribution and purchases

We do not use any analytics services (like Google Analytics, Firebase, or Mixpanel), advertising networks, or data brokers.

5. Data Sharing

We do not share, sell, rent, or trade your personal information with anyone.

Since we don't collect your data, we have nothing to share. Your receipt data stays on your device and in your private iCloud account.

6. Data Retention

Your data remains on your device until you delete it. You have full control:

• Delete individual receipts - Removes from device and iCloud
• Archive receipts - Keeps data but hides from main view
• Delete the app - Removes all local data (iCloud data persists until manually deleted)
• Delete iCloud data - Manageable through iOS/macOS Settings > iCloud > Storage

7. Children's Privacy

Proof is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children. Since we don't collect personal information from any users, this concern is inherently addressed by our privacy-first design.

8. Your Rights

Because your data is stored locally and in your private iCloud, you have complete control over it. You can:

• Access - View all your data directly in the app
• Export - Your receipt images are stored in standard formats
• Delete - Remove any or all data at any time
• Portability - Your iCloud data can be accessed on any of your devices

9. Security

We take security seriously:

• All data is encrypted at rest on your device
• iCloud data is encrypted by Apple both in transit and at rest
• The app uses Apple's security frameworks and follows iOS/macOS security best practices
• No sensitive data is transmitted to our servers because we don't have servers that store your data

10. Changes to This Policy

If we make changes to this privacy policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we may provide additional notice within the app. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
